Following the release of their stunning limited edition UK debut single, “Sister Sneaker Sister Soul” last September, My Latest Novel spent much of Autumn 2005 building a live following via support slots with the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Stars, Arab Strap and the Pixies. The band then returned to the studio to put the finishing touches on their beguiling debut.

It’s hard to imagine a band with more musical ideas than My Latest Novel. Wolves consistently displays a remarkable inventiveness and artistry - four-part harmonies, tempo changes, intricate arrangements, songs veering off on unusual tangents etc…

As lyricists, My Latest Novel truly live up to their name, easily matching their musical invention with their literary prowess. The band chose the title “Wolves” for a variety of reasons. During the recording of the album wolves seemed to be everywhere, cropping up on billboards, in documentaries, and in books… Neil Gaiman’s “The Wolves In The Walls” was a particular favourite. The band began thinking of the all the various connotations and how they appealed to them… the way they hunt in packs, are dark and mythical, are in all the best fairy tales...

My Latest Novel have crafted what must surely come to be regarded as one of the most singularly unique debuts of 2006… as well as one of it’s greatest releases.
